Boca Jrs 96 Champions of the Nomads Thanksgiving Tournament
Thanksgiving. San Diego. A Nationally Recognized Soccer Tournament. What could be better? How about the U12 Girls adding another stellar tournament performance to an already excellent year and bringing some hardware back to Sacramento? That’s right, the U12 Girls, with a significant assist from Kayla, Vanessa, and Katelyn, three top-notch guest players from the U11 team, took the Championship at Nomad’s Thanksgiving Tournament!
Youth Academy Winter Program
The CASA Youth Academy is a program for boys and girls under 8 through under 10 that focuses on player development. Success at this level is measured on player development and team development not solely on winning and losing. Although striving to win is encouraged, it is not done so at the expense of player and team development. The players are trained by professional coaches who have all played and coached soccer at the highest level. Our Summer Program was a huge success. Players trained twice a week and played 4v4 Play Days with other local clubs such as Placer Academy and Sac United.
Boca Jrs 97 Girls take 2nd place in Lodi Fall Classic
LODI, CA -- Congratulations to our U11 Boca Jrs girls for their second place finish at the 2008 Lodi Fall Classic. The Boca girls went undefeated with two 5-0 shutouts and great technical soccer in the preliminary matches.
During the championship match, the girls squared off against a pumped up and energized Santa Rosa Freeze team who quickly tried to establish possession dominance. The Boca team was not to be deterred and fought back hard while consistently making good passes and moving the ball down field. The Freeze worked tirelessly, taking shots at the end of the first half and beginning of the second with great saves by goalie Carloyn Edmiston to keep it 0-0.
Boca, however, was able to establish a 1-0 advantage in the middle of the second period by connecting to the free striker Katelyn Chandler for the hard shot past the SR Freeze goalie, much to the Boca parents delight. The Freeze answered back late in the 2nd to tie the game with a clean up goal off a free kick deep in Boca territory.
In two exciting 5 minute extra periods neither team was able to find golden goal to take the win so they went to a five shot penalty kick round. The Freeze prevailed in the PKs to steal the tournament away from our brave Boca Girls! Congratulations to the Santa Rosa Freeze and thanks for the great match. We looking forward to catching up to them again for more great soccer action. Congratulations also to our U11 Boca Jrs Girls, lead by coaches Melissa Cavitt and Katie Ulan, for their second championship appearance this year. Keep up the great work!
Go Boca!
CHAMPIONS - Boca Jrs 96 Boys of El Dorado Shootout
EL DORADO, CA -- The chants of the Yellow Submarine rang across Cherry Island after the final penalty kick of the U12 Final game. Three times a charm as the old saying goes. The Boca 96 boys finally got over the hump and won the El Dorado "Joe Ribaudo" Shootout. This was the first local event of the year for the boys as it posed a different feel. Instead of trying to knock off the Mustangs and the Santa Cruz Breakers, teams were looking to knock the Boca boys out of contention. A player said, "Every game was like a local derby match, intense and very competitive. And Coach Brandon replied, “It was a good learning experience for our boys."

Boca Jrs Academy Girls Sparkle in Northwest Showcase
TACOMA, WA --- Last weekend the Boca Jrs Girls U18 team participated in the Northwest Showcase held in Tacoma, Washington. In spite of having had only a couple of practices since the recent tryouts, the team performed very well and won all three of their games. The Showcase is sponsored by adidas, the new equipment supplier and partner with Capital Athletic Soccer Academy. In addition to strong competition in a beautiful setting with excellent fields, the event also includes seminars held at the Tacoma Convention Center designed to assist the youngsters with the process of making informed choices of colleges to attend after graduating from high school. There were also sessions on sports psychology and dealing with the cost of college.
