Boca Jrs 97 Girls take 2nd place in Lodi Fall Classic

During the championship match, the girls squared off against a pumped up and energized Santa Rosa Freeze team who quickly tried to establish possession dominance. The Boca team was not to be deterred and fought back hard while consistently making good passes and moving the ball down field.  The Freeze worked tirelessly, taking shots at the end of the first half and beginning of the second with great saves by goalie Carloyn Edmiston to keep it 0-0.

Boca, however, was able to establish a 1-0 advantage in the middle of the second period by connecting to the free striker Katelyn Chandler for the hard shot past the SR Freeze goalie, much to the Boca parents delight.  The Freeze answered back late in the 2nd to tie the game with a clean up goal off a free kick deep in Boca territory. 

In two exciting 5 minute extra periods neither team was able to find golden goal to take the win so they went to a five shot penalty kick round. The Freeze prevailed in the PKs to steal the tournament away from our brave Boca Girls!  Congratulations to the Santa Rosa Freeze and thanks for the great match. We looking forward to catching up to them again for more great soccer action.  Congratulations also to our U11 Boca Jrs Girls, lead by coaches Melissa Cavitt and Katie Ulan, for their second championship appearance this year.
