Boca Jrs 96 Finalists at Placer Prestige Cup

Boca 96 Girls Make A Difference

This past weekend the BOCA girls made it to the finals of the Placer Prestige Cup playing some good soccer along the way.  In the first game against Mustang Extreme all of the scoring came quickly as the Extreme scored within the first couple of minutes of the game and BOCA would answer back a couple of minutes later on a free kick that found the back of the net.  The game would end 1-1.  The next game against Walnut Creek Dynamos was a physical battle that was scoreless until the final ten minutes of the match.  It was then the girls started playing BOCA soccer and with good passing scored two goals to secure a 2-0 win.

The following day saw the girls play their best soccer of the tournament against the MVLA Dynamite and scored quickly to take a 1-0 lead.  The ball was moving around the field; however, the girls would not find the back of the net again, but would make it to the finals that afternoon.  Awaiting BOCA was a familiar foe... the Modesto Ajax.  These teams would play another closely contested and hard fought battle, but Ajax would hold on to a 1-0 win.  This was the third game between the clubs with each team winning 1-0 and tying 0-0 at Cal Cup earlier in the year.  If all holds to form the teams may meet again in NorCal Cup in what could be another highly contested battle.

The Saturday of the tournament was also "Make a Difference Day" and the BOCA Girls showed that it is not all about soccer.  The team set up a booth and made cards for UC Davis Medical Center Pediatrics ICU to be delivered the Thursday before Halloween to reach children who are facing hardships in their lives.  The turn-out was great as the BOCA Girls, as well as girls from the other clubs (MVLA, Placer United, Bay Oaks) to name a few, took time out from soccer to make cards for the children.  The event went well as the team will be bring over 90 cards to the hospital to hopefully brighten the day of children less fortunate than our girls.  The day proved to be a great learning experience as the girls had a chance to reflect about how fortunate they are to have good health and opportunities that other children do not have.   Way to step up and make a difference at the Placer Prestige Cup!
